Kairos and Chronos

We are all way too familiar with Chronos, the inexorable march of time, always seeming to march a little faster than we can. The older we get, the faster that march seems to go. In retirement, I am wondering where I ever found the time to work. Chronos (measurable, chronological time) appears 53 times in the New Testament.

And then there is Kairos which appears over 80 times in the New Testament. Kairos means  "right time" or "opportune moment." As Christians, we wait patiently and expectantly for those Kairos moments in our lives, those moments when it is obvious that God is breaking through Chronos. And, that He is doing it at exactly the right time and in exactly the right way. At Holy Trinity, I firmly believe that we are in the midst of such a Kairos opportunity.
